Shannon Keckler received a BA in English, BS in Biology, MS in Environmental Sciences and PhD in Microbiology in San Antonio, Texas. She is currently pursuing a MPH in Biodefense and Disaster Preparedness with Saint Louis University. She has completed the Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education (ORISE) Research Participation Program, American Society for Microbiology (ASM) Science Teaching Fellowship Program, the ASM Scientific Writing and Publishing Institute, and the CDC’s Laboratory Leadership Service Fellowship Program. Research interests include immunology, infectious disease and vaccine studies involving HIV and Monkeypox, environmental studies to assess the risk of transmission of microorganisms within healthcare facilities and from medical and laboratory equipment and developing evidence-based safety management methods which integrate quality and safety management in the laboratory setting.
